but lean fuel mix tells me I fowled my new plug within 15min. I just have not had time or patience to do much more than brass wire brush to the spark plug. Might be flooding it also.
Usually plug fowling is due to rich mixture, not lean. Anyway, from what you're saying, it sounds like you have some tuning issues, no actual issues with the car. Here's what I would do:

  1. Reset carb settings. LSN goes to 1 1/4 and HSN goes to 1 1/2
  2. Raise car off the ground to ensure it doesn't run away after starting
  3. Increase idle (either from the idle screw or from the transmitter) - watch

  4. If you still can't get it going (which I doubt), try holding the throttle wide open while pulling. This helps when starting with a rich mix.

Ok, got new spark plug, put high and low speed needles in factory position then same thing, after 15 min of running it has so much gunk on the plug it will no longer run. Look at pics, it looks like my exhaust gasket is leaking, do you think this is my problem? d99af1e1b19317496ee572b04eb348f3.jpg

Ok, thanks man. Will get one local real quick so I can work on it today and will order that good one put it on when it gets here. I'm lost when it comes to make it stop fowling the plugs so quick. Thought it was needel settings but guess not.

Btw, I remember you saying you bought it used, are you sure it's running the stock carb? 'Cause if it isn't, then those default settings don't apply. Also, if tuned correctly and still getting very rich mixture, it could be just a faulty carb.

I'm pretty sure it's stock carb but not 100%. It looks like stock carb from online pics i have seen.Running to the rc shop now to get gasket, I will get back with you in a couple hours. Process of elimination, lol.

You wouldn't notice any difference if it was replaced with a walbro, not without taking it off

Do you think this air filter could be causing something? It's working like it should with no gaps or leaks, View attachment 7874

There should be a writing on the carb's bottom, if it's a Walbro it's definetely a retrofit.

Really curious to see how the 2-speed holds up after a few months.
I will definitely let you know buddy. They are $169 on ebay + shipping but if you message them they will ship free. Great people to deal with also. They fixed the one way bearing issue for free and sold me a set of gears for high top end.

It's not exactly the same, but it's definetely a demon clone. Hope it holds up ok, I might consider one.
