Don't be too put off by the response to your question. These are two different platforms. They both have plusses to them. Also understand one person might find one better for what he likes, and vise versa. A question like that can only be answered by opinion and not fact. I use that "search" button all the time. I read threads for hours on end. You will be able to find answers to all your questions as well as learn thing you might have not thought of.

Reasons:

Ground clearance

Huge (You'll appreciate the scale, if/when you get one.)

Durable (It's beefy, look at the shock towers.)

Easy to work on

XT is more like a stadium truck. It's lighter and more agile. MT is just straight up MT.
