If you buy replacement stock bearing sizes do not get stainless steel. The stainless is not as durable or hard as chromoly. The best part is the chromoly ones are cheaper! I use boeing T9 teflon for all my lubricating. Works great and makes a waxy film that is water repellant and does not attract dust.
Where can you buy the teflon lubricant? Also, what's the cost?

A local bicycle shop. I got mine from the bike expo show. It was free. Should retail around 8-10 bucks.

Dam that's a bummer. Mine lasted alot longer than that before going out. Are you running the HPI adapters and HPI wheels by chance or stock wheels?

Also, I finished my first gallon on my 7075RC front knuckles and the 22mm bearings are still nice and tight. I've put 3 tanks on the rear knuckles so far and they are slop free just like the fronts.

100% stock Just took it out the box and ran it.

I took it apart and the wheel mount adapters were way to tight

Also they where lock tighted to the shaft from the factory.

The bearings should have lasted much longer.

I did some calculations they shouldn't be that bad.

There is 2.875 lb per bearing there rated at 385 lb

that's a FS of 133.913:1 I think this is a radial load

issue.

Whats the link for those bearings chromoly?

It looks like I can add a 3th bearing to the rear hub carrier bearing mount.

6700 Ball Bearing 10x15x3. I tried my best to measure, it should fit.

I think that will help with the thrust loading. The outer bearing failed because of thrust pushed

the seal right out. Then once it failed it killed the inner bearing.

Just an idea. I will have to try it out.

I've already tried upgraded bearings. That was one of the first things I did 6 months before the XT/XB wa even released. I ordered some from Boca and even INA bearings. They did not solve the problem. All they did was delay the inevetable.

My suggestion is to get the 7075RC hubs and call it a day.

I don't understand what upgraded beraings has to do with

adding a spacer or another beaing?

If I just add a spacer between the two bearings the thrust loads

would be cut in half. I would think the bearings would last much longer

It's worth a shot. If it last a few tanks, at least I get to have some fun.

Dam, I never thought about the thrust loads and adding a spacer. That's a good idea. I was more concerned about radial loads since it was obvious. I'd be really curious to see how much a spacer or a 3rd bearing extends the bearing life.

I called my supplier he said he can get me some bearings. But he said

it will take some time to hunt them down.

I will have to wait and see. I really want to see how it much helps.

All the outer bearings pushed out the cage and the seal. I looked at them under

a loop and I don't see any sign of radial over loading. But it so small

I could miss it. I did read some of the section of bearing failure in some catalog

but really did see anything. The bearings are good for 385 lb but what are the

thrust loads.

You can buy new front bearing holders with oversize bearings at my store, 7075rc. They hold 22x10x7 bearings.
I am confused on the size as your web site says 22x6 which I am guessing is OD and width and in the post you have 22x10x7 which I am guessing is ODxIDxwidth. Do your bearing holders take 6mm or 7mm width?

Thanks

I think that was just a typo. The bearings are a 6900 series bearing which are 22mm OD x 10mm ID x 6mm Width. I've refered to it as a 7mm wide bearing a bunch of times since the MT/TT use a 22x8x7 bearing in a few places. Sometimes it gets confusing.
