Silencers on tuned pipes

What does it do to performance?


Is it effective in cutting down on the sound?

No noticeable performance change. You will want to retune.

Most silenced pipes are just slightly louder than a stock can muffler.

I have about ten acres behind my house. But it is surrounded by homes. I would be trying to use the truck at home and not trek 10 miles into the desert.

Another trick that works well to quiet it down, is to add a piece of silicon tube to the end of the exhaust and point it to the ground.
