MT3 with Steel Gears

* Does it come with metal tranny gears?


* What do I need to upgrade before I run to make it reliable?

Yes they come with steel gears.

For reliability just locktite all screws that thread into metal and vent the fuel tank.

The servos will need upgrading, mostly the throttle/brake servo. Install a kill switch to prevent a runaway.

The MT is a great truck.

Here's what I'd do...

1. Blue Loctite all screws that thread into metal.

2. Upgrade the servos. (You can get away with running the stock steering servos. Upgrading the throttle servo is necessary.)

3. Install a kill switch.

4. Upgrade the air filter.

5. Vent the fuel tank.

6. Do this mod... Suspension Arm Holder Modification

7. Get rid of the factory diff and shock fluids. Use some quality fluids.

For sure. Out of the box, the MT is far more durable than the XT.

What is the best weight for the diffs? I've read that 40w is best for shocks, is that right?

For the shocks, I use 40wt, front and rear. For the diffs, I'm currently using Mugen 7k in the front and 5k in the rear. I run on loose dirt and occasionally on pavement, this setup works great.
