What mix to use? motor says 25/1 manual says after 8hrs 30/1?


I mixed 25/1 and fouled a plug after 1/2 tank ...?

25:1=5.12 oz of oil to 1 gallon of gas. 30:1= 4.2oz of oil to 1 gallon of gas. Make shure you shake it up every time you use it. Yes break in fuel will foul plugs.So have a couple of plugs handy.

When you are fouling plugs it is due to running rich. You will want to tune the carb not decrease oil to prevent fouling. You can run less oil but don't go under 32:1. Once you break it in a bit you can start to lean it out.

Your base carb settings should be 1 1/2 out on the high needle and 1 1/4 out on the low needle.

If you're a beginner, stick to 25:1. Once you get used to tuning you can go a little leaner. The leaner mixtures leave little room for error. Also, you'll foul plugs if you let the engine idle for too long. You don't need to baby these engines. Take a warm up lap and give it hell from there.
