Cutting away engine shroud?

Any thoughts on cutting away the engine shroud? Seems like most of the fancy billet head kits have small or no shroud. Would no shroud make for better cooling? The grass and stuff might not get packed in around the fins that way.

It will not make for better cooling. The shroud is there to blow the air all around the fins. You may be OK in PA, due to the weather, but I wouldn't do it in Phx.

The shroud doesn't fit with the head kit I have even after trying to trim it. I just left it off and have had no problems with out it.

I just saw that DDM sells a shroud for the cy head kits that is cut in half. Wish I would have seen that befor I started grinding the shroud I have.
