Anyone got a SKYRC Toro EX HV ESC?

Folks,

Anyone used one of these ESCs? I have a 6S Baja conversion that needs more oomph and I was thinking to get one of these to run at 8S with an external BEC.

Works out a bit cheaper than another Mamba XL2.

I don't know anything about the esc's, but you will love the power the motors make.

They do look very well put together. I just emailed the factory and I am waiting on a quote for the ESC. Will keep you posted...

Just had a response form the factory. Quoted about $150 including shipping for ESC and programming card, so I have ordered one. Can't wait for it to arrive! Will probably be safest to run an external BEC (SKYRC even recommend it) but it should certainly be more than enough poke for a 2WD Baja.

So 8 days later and the ESC has arrived. No customs charge.

Built quality is top notch. On a par with Mamba XL2. Even comes with 8mm bullets for motor and battery connectors. The two ESC fans are very low profile.

Need to wait for my HV UBEC to arrive and then I'll wire it up!

I hope that you get good service with it. I know that buying the large motors is marine or car and be tuff at the monentas it's the hotest product out. everything is back ordered. I did get my marine proteus motor yesterday. I want to buy two more to build a 60" Catamaran.

Here is what I just finished last night.

Lovely install you've got going on there. I love how the esc's and wires look like mini cylinder heads and spark plug wires of sorts. Neat stuff indeed..

I know we all take chances with this stuff, and I've stated as much before about being a guinnea pig for testing things out (more specifically how I didn't want to) but the price seemed right and I've been building up my spare XBE for awhile now. I'm going to start out running the stock motor on 8s, just to see what it is capable of. Should be far less load and a good way to test the whole thing out. I'm running Baja wheels with Proline trenchers on all fours. Stock gearing too, so it should be howlin' until the motor goes. Figure 980kv (stock) vs 730 (for the bigger motor). Fun times indeed.. (i hope)

Not yet, it just arrived yesterday. I've got to mount it and have a pretty slick idea in mind. As well, solder up the Sportbec. Just a side note: it did not come with a program box, but I found them pretty cheap on fleabay so overall investment is still extremely low considering the alternatives..

As candid as I am about everything else.. I'll provide a full report once it's all done.

Mounted.. Awaiting the program card now. I'd rather get the settings the way I'd like them than risk experimenting a first run under full torque situations.
