I am wanting to put in a new steering servo that is 7.4v capable and waterproof that will fit in the original mount. I have a hitec hs 5765 that fits in there pretty good but it is not waterproof. Another Hitec waterproof servo I looked at is too big for the stock mount, would need the futaba mount which there are no predrilled countersunk holes for it to bolt to the chassis. What do you guys use in there? Or should I jut drill new holes for the futaba mount? Thanks!!

Well for those who may do this to their DR steering. I purchased a hitec d845wp servo and the Futaba aluminium mount for it. Going to drill and counter sink holes in the chassis for it to bolt up. I made a template from the bolt locations on my MT chassis, now just to get it set up and drill away.

Drilled and countersunk 2 holes 6mm on center from the original holes and was able to use the Futaba mount.

Pretty tight fit to the driveshaft. Once bolted down there is at least 1mm gap. So it's good.

This is a pic of me mocking everything up to be sure everything fits right. Any bigger of a steering servo would not fit

That piece is for use of a smaller steering servo like a Hitec 5765 so it is not used for the bigger servos. I don't understand why the 0240 won't fit. The Savox 0236 fit in there, along with a Hitec d845 and a Spektrum s9020. The Hitec d845 seems the strongest gears wise. Did you see my pic above with the Hitec d845 in that mount? Two extra holes drilled in the chassis to bolt up the Futaba mount and done.

Oh ok. I see what you mean. I used the non-waterproof version savox 0236 in a MT chassis, it is wider. That hitec d845 is so much better than that savox. Great choice!

Take a picture of what you are talking about. Try to explain what you did to it better too. I may be able to help

Its from when i had to take it all apart to drill holes for Futaba mount. I forgot to put that grub screw back in before putting it all back together an now it only goes in barley half way.

I'd reckon you've missed the flat part of the shaft.
Unfortunately you're gonna have to pull it apart to check.
That angled two piece shaft is the one thing I don't like about the DR.

Probably cross threaded the hole with the grubscrew. Probably be easier to take the center shaft bearing carrier back out and replace the drive cup, then reinstall
