Wondering how often do clutches need replacing and also if there are better material clutches / springs that make them last more? How to tell a clutch needs replacing?

The stock clutch is not worth it, go aftermarket for a mich better and longer lasting clutch.
I bought a pricy but, nice 8 shoe race clutch that cost a little over a hundred bucks and, it have gone through well not sure how many gallons but, it is still running without having to replace any part of it. Engages much better as well.

with the stock style clutches, its driving style. if a driver is in and out on the throttle all the time, this will wear and glaze over the clutch shoes fast. a high rpm spring will also shorten the shoes life also, very much so if the driver is constantly blipping the throttle. dirt-sand- mud will wear out clutch shoes quicker also. There are several places that sell standard style clutches- 1 bolt hole on each shoe- 1 spring that have no fiber, they use hardened steel.-- Detroit -r-c is one- Rovan also sells steel clutches- its a diffrent style- uses 2 springs- no pivot bolts. these types of steel to steel clutches if broken in gently, will lock up hard. but if the driver is blipping the gas constantly- its certan the clutch bell will get real hot-real fast. heat transfer ya know--
