I have the Maverick Vader variant which has the same stock 980kv motor, i've read that this is underpowered for this car so looking to upgrade. I've read lots of threads on this forum but still can't decide. I've narrowed it down to
SKYRC Beast X524 2Y 910KV - 8mm shaft http://www.robinsonracing.com/catalog/brushless_pinion.html around 14/48?
Leopard 5692 1340KV - 6mm shaft 10/48 11/48
Leopard 5692 1090kv - 6mm shaft
Castle 1717 out of the XO-1 - 5mm shaft
They are all around the same price shipped to here in the UK. I have 2x6s and 2x4s 5000mah batteries which I can run in parallel. I'm not looking for mega speed around the 35mph mark and would like to keep costs down so don't want a motor which requires big upgrades.
A setup that runs fairly cool would be nice, I know the leopards need the motor mount from 7075rc http://7075rc.flyingcart.com/index.php?p=detail&pid=5&cat_id= or kershaw http://www.kershawdesigns.com/MotorMounts-Rampage.html but see the 7075rc one seems to be the preferred choice.
Will the toro or castle need a different mount also? would the toro need to be run on 8s to see any improvement over stock?
