I'm brand new to the Redcat brand. I just picked up a new in box rampage XB last night. Was there a reason these fell off production and they continued with the truck platform. should i just buy the truck? i paid 550 out the door which didn't seem bad to me considering i wanted it anyway and left room for some upgrades considering the cost difference between the buggy and truck. RC logic applied... i really like the buggy style vehicles anyway. I started looking over it. I've been reading all i can. My search results are all over from what seems that everything needs to replaced asap to replace things as they break and upgrade then. don't buy an XB period.. Etc,Etc,Etc... I see the kill switch is a must had that one checked off. Majority points to killer B brand for a kill switch. Clearly it needs to be disassembled and reassembled. I have found lots of loose screws just looking over it. I saw a few posts of copper pipe pieces over the diff cups to keep them from breaking. Is the stock radio worth keeping or upgrade to a entry 3 channel with a dedicated channel for the kill or just run the stock 2 channel radio the came with it for now. It is a RCR 2C radio. Since I have it apart is there a recommended diff lube for these vehicles and if so what is a good weight for just general bashing around. The purpose of this post was to try try to get as many issues solved ahead of time if at all possible. Is it better to break these in on conventional dino oil rather than syn stuff. Lots of experience in the 2 stroke world on modded engines just wondering how things apply to these little china motors. i appreciate any advice and any thing that truly needs to be upgraded to make these more trouble free.

Looks like your on the right path doing your research on your XB. I don't know the setup on that XB being I on a MT. Here's what I did to my MT after purchasing it brand new. I disassembled it all the way down to the chassis. I sold the factory motor, electronics, suspension parts, and drive train parts. I replaced these items with high end items like aluminum suspension part, aluminum drive train part(diff box), high quality shocks, Savox and Futaba electronics including radio system and kill switch, and a high end motor from O'neal Brother's Racing. I have close to $4k invested in my MT. I know that's a lot of money for one RC truck, but my goal for my MT was to build it to out last me. To build it where as I would have little to no issues after each run. I've learned in my life time thus far, is that you get what you pay for. If you want quality, you gonna have spend some money but in the long run, it'll be worth it because your investment will last longer. I'm not saying go out and spend all your money on that XB, but if you plan on keeping your XB long term, buying better parts maybe a consideration..... Good luck.

I have 2 Dunerunners.
I did the same but gradually.
I just upgraded to better parts as the originals broke.

You need to purchase an exhaust. The stock pipe will fail quickly, probably during break in. A pipe from Dave's Discount Motors or JetPro will due. I like the JetPro rear pipe. I think it gives the best performance gain. The steering servo is not good either, it will not last long. HiTec, Savox, and a couple other brands have 1/5 scale high torque servos. I like the HiTec servos.
