Killer Bee Issues (Need Help)

Ok so Ive had the killer bee super bee installed on my Rampage setup initially and i was having number of starting issues. So to isolate it i removed the killer bee and the problem seemed to go away. However after two runaway situations i decided to install it back. Seems to be couple different issues that seems to be intermittent. Main problem im experiencing now is when i turn left the engine cuts out. Just weird. Its almost like its a short or something.

Can anyone help with any suggestions on how i can fix this?? I would take it back out again but I wish it could work correctly. I feel more comfortable if i had a failsafe after having two incidents. Does anyone know how i can isolate and fix this issue?? Ive contacted killer bee in the past but problem still persists.

Thanks

I'd have to guess here. Spark plug is a common radio interference item that can make the superbee act weird. Try putting a new NGK CMR7H sparkplug in it and see what happens. Another thing. What is causing the runaways you speak of. I had issues with runaways using a Flysky it4s system. I went to a Futaba 4pls and haven't had any issues in years since. So upgrade the radio system if you haven't yet. Good luck!

Disconnect the steering servo and see if it happens.
As I said over on large scale I'd reckon you've got a faulty servo if everything else is OK.
The R in CMR on the plug stands for resistor that stops interference.
As Gman said check which plug you have too.

Thanks for the input guys.

I only use the NGK CMR7H plugs. Thats the first easy thing I tried was swapping out plugs with new ones but problem still persists. Thats another issue all together on why the runaways are happening. i would definitely like to know that myself. But then if we knew that killer bee would be out of business right. lol

Was out testing it out yetserday and thought that maybe I should check the EPA settings. I had it set at 80% for both left and right steering. So being its cutting out when i turn left i decided to adjust the left setting down to 50% and the problem went away. So I continued adjusting back up to 80% to see where the cutoff issues would start happening again and its around 65% so I left it at 60% just to be safe.

So with that said now I can turn left right straight but now its cutting off occasionally (going straight) for no apparent reason LOL!!!! SMH I cant win with this thing. Ill keep troubleshooting but these intermittent issues that seem to keep moving around are the worst!!! makes me miss the days of plugnplay of electric. NOT!!!!

If you still have the stock throttle servo, that is causing the runaways. Mine tried to fail on me one day. It was twitching. I got rid of it asap. I still say Flysky radio systems have no place in gas 5th scale. That was the only time I've ever had a runaway was with a Flysky it4s radio system. I think the spark plug and receiver had interference issues. Not running all electronics functioned properly. Running, within a few seconds the throttle servo would act up. I recommend getting a Futaba radio system and put these issues in the past. Good luck RC brother!!

Thanks again. I hope im not coming across as shooting down all suggestions. I welcome the input but ive already tried a bunch of things to try to resolve this issue before coming here to the forum as a last resort.

Im not running the stock setup because i had the same issue youre referring to with the stock throttle servo. LOL its funny you say "Flysky it4s" system has no place here. I posted in another forum and someone suggested i change to this exact system LOL. I have a Futaba system. I doubt its my Futaba xmitter\receiver. I have that setup in all my RCs. One transmitter and same receiver in all of them. Im having issues with two of them now. Weird issues. My buggy has no issues but recently i noticed my other car had steering issues and now my rampage cutsout when turning left. No changes were made on my transmitter. Not sure if both receivers could have went bad in some stroke of badluck. Doubt it though.

Appreciate the info though.

Funny you say. I was gonna ask if you tried another receiver. They do go up just like that. I had 2 go up one after the other on my old spektrum system.

*Update*
Turns out looks like it was a bad steering servo (hitec) that was somehow exhibiting the problem when i would turn left the engine would shutoff. Now if i removed the killer bee altogether the steering worked fine. But i ordered a new hitec servo although the other seems to work fine (w/o the killer bee attached) and installed it and it seems to be working fine with the killer bee. Weird Weird Weird

Anyone have any ideas what that could be?

It sounds like the Hitec is a high voltage servo which draws higher amperage which if ran through the rx it can cause voltage drops which cause brown outs to the rest of the electronics that the superbee picks up and shuts the engine down. I went through this using dual steering servos tied into a Y plug connector then into the steering slot on the rx. One way around it is to send power and ground wires straight to the servo from the battery and the signal wire to the rx so it operates

Hey Thanks G-Man
So youre saying have a y-cable from servo, one leg going directly to battery and the other part of y-cable with the one signal wire to the receiver channel 1 right?? I guess ill also need a y-cable from the batt as well. One to feed power to the receiver and one to feed power to the servo. So ill need two y-cables correct? Unless I have a separate battery for that servo.

I guess ill just keep the other servo as an extra just in case anything happens I can at least drive with it.

What I am saying is to pop the power and ground wires out of the JR connector and leave the signal wire in it so you can still plug into channel 1 on the rx. Then however you decide to get power and ground from the rx lipo to the + and - wires on the servo. You could actually use a separate lipo to do the servo duties if you wanted.

**UPDATE**

Killer Bee issues have been working ok now. I went in adjusted my EPA further than it was before and that seems to have solved the issue.

Thanks
