Zenoah installation tip

My new Rampage XR came with a defective RedCat engine, and, in the end, I bought a new ZENOAH G290RC engine. BE AWARE that the air filter that comes with this engine, DOES NOT FIT the Rampage XR chassis; the length of it comes in conflict with the throttle linkage. THE SOLUTION: Take off that air filter, and bolt the shorter air filter from the stock RedCat engine. Problem solved.

You'll also find that you need to use your stock engine cover for the bolts to line up

Contrat on your engine. The stock zenoah air filter is one of those items that no one uses.

Thank you, Designed 2survive. The engine also came without a choke. So, at first I was perplexed as to how I'd start the thing. Subsequently, I found an OBR YouTube video that showed me how, and now my chokeless engine starts, everytime, within 5 short JERKS on the cord. I'm having a blast.

Now you tell me. Lol. If it had dawned on me to do the above, it would have saved me half an hour of drilling NEW holes. But, the more you live, the more you learn.

When I got mine I couldn't figure out why it wouldn't fit either then it dawned on me

Yes you have to order the engine for Redcat in the drop down menus on the OBR site. It will come ready for your filter and pipe. Bolt right in.

OBR offer both configurations. You will need to make a selection when checking out. I don't know what vehicle you have but if the difference in price is too much I would get the OBR G320RC Full mod. Trust me horsepower is one thing but torque is what will put that smile on your face when getting the vehicle moving.

It's a powerful engine but it has less torque than the G320RC.

The stock Baja 5b air filter is widely used and is a good one!
